Deborah L. Ruby
Attorney Deborah Ruby founded her own law firm in 2002, having gathered personal, educational, and professional experience that has uniquely suited her to understand and meet the needs of her clients.
Deb currently practices primarily family law along with personal injury law--practice areas that deeply affect the personal and financial lives of her clients. In addition to her law degree, Deb has an MBA in finance. She understands the financial impact of her clients’ cases on their personal lives, particularly in the realm of divorce practice. Deb works with her clients to ensure that the outcome of their case is not only personally satisfying, but financially manageable for them. To the extent that her clients need ongoing financial guidance, Deb is able to put them in touch with the help that they need moving forward.
In addition to having worked in family law for many years, Deb also has personal experience of the system, so she is able to truly empathize with her clients. Along with the two sons she had with her husband, she also had third-party custody of another boy for several years while his divorced parents were unable to care for him. Though the young man no longer lives with her, he is still considered a part of the family. Deb’s experience as a participant in the family court system allows her to see the process through her client’s eyes in a way other attorneys often cannot.
Deb is committed to offering her clients the most compassionate, and also the most skilled, service that she possibly can. To this end, she regularly attends continuing education and advanced training, including the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers’ Ohio Chapter advanced legal training seminars. Deb also is a regular presenter for various Akron Bar Association continuing legal education seminars.
Clients recognize her dedication, and observe that Deb is “always willing to go the extra step and research areas or seek expertise on topics unique to (their) situation.” One client was so moved by Deb’s commitment to helping her family that she named her last daughter after her!
Referrals from colleagues and satisfied clients have caused Deb’s practice to expand to the point where she has taken on an associate who shares her values and dedication. Deb looks forward to many more years of helping clients weather transitions in their lives.
An Akron native, Deb and her family maintain strong roots in the community: her husband is also a local business owner, and her adult sons are financial advisors for the same local company. She is also a member of St. Victor Parish in Bath, Ohio.
